NAMD can be run over InfiniBand verbs

The HPC Network of Experts is a collaboration of highly technical and knowledgeable individuals that create a support network for consultations, questions, and answers for high-performance computing end-users, software vendors and systems builders. Each of the HPC Advisory Council members participate in the Network of Experts to utilize their vast experience to contribute into the Network knowledge base. NAMD can be run over InfiniBand verbs

Pease note that NAMD can be run over InfiniBand verbs as well, not only on MPI. When running over InfiniBand verbs (for example using OFED drivers from OpenFabrics web site) you should expect around 10% performance improvement over MPI. When using InfiniBand verbs, the application is running closer to the interconnect hardware, therefore lower latency and overhead.
