The ISC-HPCAC Student Cluster Competition (SCC) encourages international teams of university students to showcase their expertise in a friendly yet spirited competition that fosters critical skills, professional relationships, competitive spirit and lifelong comraderies.

An integral part of the ISC High Performance Conference and Exhibition the 2019 SCC will be held on June 17-19 in Frankfurt Germany.

The SCC’s ongoing success and growing recognition as a world championship is a result of the collaborative partnership between the ISC Group and the HPC Advisory Council. For the last seven years, the joint collaboration has focused on introducing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students to the world of possibilities that is HPC – its leaders, opportunities and community, and helping develop critical skills students will use long after completing their current studies.

Each year up to twelve teams, each comprised of six students and up to two advisers, compete in the ISC-HPCAC SCC and take part in the world’s oldest, and Europe’s premier, conference and networking event for the international HPC community.

Over three intense competition days, cheered on by more than 3,500 conference attendees, SCC teams demonstrate incredible capabilities from building a state-of-the-art system of their own design, to obtaining the greatest performance across a series of benchmarks and applications during the hands on live-learning competition. The student team members also take part in the ISC High Performance conference sessions and are exposed to more than 160 exhibitors from around the globe.

Entering its 34rd year ISC High Performance Conference is ‘The HPC Event’ — and for SCC teams it’s ‘The Destination’. In parallel to their day-to-day learnings, the students’ novel approaches and unique perspectives gained during the live demonstrations are integral to our own education – teaching us how HPC influences our world.
