Remote direct memory access (RDMA) is a direct memory access from the memory of one computer into that of another without involving either one\'s operating system. This permits high-throughput, low-latency networking, which is especially useful in massively parallel computer clusters. Nowadays, RDMA technology has been widely used in the vertical market like HPC, Bigdata, Cloud Computing, Database and Financial services.
Both industry and academia need to find the technical personnel with RDMA programming expertise to serve growing demand from markets. The HPC Advisory Council is a large eco-system organizations which focuses on bridging the gap between high-performance computing use and its potential, bringing the beneficial capabilities of HPC to new users for better research, education, innovation and product manufacturing, and brings users the expertise needed to operate HPC systems, provide application designers with the tools needed to enable parallel computing, and to strengthen the qualification and integration of HPC system products. The council has many subgroups, including HPC|Cloud, HPC|Scale, HPC|GPU, HPC|Storage. HPC|Works and HPC|FSI. All the members can use the cluster for free.
The HPC Advisory Council held the first National Supercomputer Competition for University Students in 2012 and Asia Supercomputer Community in 2013 (ASC13), attracting high attention of more than 300 universities throughout the country and the Asia region. In the last two competitions, Tsinghua University won the championship in 2012 Supercomputer Competition, as well as National University of Defense Technology achieved the Highest Calculating Performance Award; while in 2013’s contest, Huazhong University of Science and Technology won the Highest Calculating Performance Award.
China Education and Research Grid Project – ChinaGrid is an important 211 project funded by Chinese Ministry of Education, aims at constructing public service system. The goal of ChinaGrid is to integrate heterogeneous mass resources distributed in the China Education and Research Network (CERNET), share those resources in the CERNET environment effectively and avoid the resource islands, provide useful services, finally form the public platform for research and education in China.
