The HPC Advisory Council is also a community effort support center for HPC end-users, providing the following capabilities:

University Award Program

The HPC Advisory Council a leading worldwide organization for high-performance computing research, development, outreach and education, that includes best-in-class original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), strategic technology suppliers, independent software vendors (ISVs) and selected end-users across the entire range of HPC market segments. The HPC Advisory Councilís mission is to bridge the gap between high-performance computing (HPC) use and its potential, bring the beneficial capabilities of HPC to new users for better research, education, innovation and product manufacturing, bring users the expertise needed to operate HPC systems, provide application designers with the tools needed to enable parallel computing, and to strengthen the qualification and integration of HPC system products.

One of the HPC Advisory Councilís main activities is community and education outreach, in particular to enhance studentsí computing knowledge-base as early as possible. As such, the HPC Advisory Council has established a university award program in which universities are encouraged to submit proposals for advanced research around high-performance computing. The HPC Advisory Council will select a few proposals proposals where the winners will be provided with the following:

  • Exclusive computation time on the HPC Advisory Councilís Compute Center
  • Invitation to present the research results in one of the HPC Advisory Councilís worldwide workshops, including sponsorship of travel expenses (according the to the Council Award Program rules)
  • Publication of the research results on the HPC Advisory Council website and related publications
  • Publication of the research results and a demonstration if applicable within HPC Advisory Council world-wide technology demonstration activities

Proposals for the HPC Advisory Council University Award Program 2013 can be submitted between Nov. 1, 2013 through Oct. 31, 2014. The selected proposal(s) will be determined by November 10th, 2014 and the winner(s) will be notified.
